1. What Are Cookies?
A cookie is a small text string stored in your browser when you access online platforms. At MasonLab, we maintain a strict digital sobriety philosophy: we do not use invasive tracking pixels and rely exclusively on strictly necessary infrastructure technologies.
2. Categories of Technologies Used
We do not deploy cross-site behavioral ad trackers. Our technical footprint is categorized as follows:
A. Essential Technical & Security Cookies (Strictly Necessary)
Mandatory for network edge security, bot defense, and HTTP request routing.
- __cf_bm / cf_clearance: Issued by Cloudflare to distinguish between legitimate human requests and automated malicious scrapers or DDoS floods. Duration: 30 minutes to 24 hours.
- theme-preference: Local storage entry storing the visitor's dark visual interface preference.
B. Privacy-Preserving Analytics (Zero Client-Side Cookies)
We run Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregated operational telemetry (page render speeds, country-level traffic distribution, Core Web Vitals). This mechanism functions server-side via HTTP network headers and stores zero cookies on your device, maintaining zero cross-site tracking.
C. Payment Gateway Security Cookies
When completing transactions via Stripe, Stripe may issue temporary fraud prevention tokens necessary to satisfy international banking compliance (3D Secure).
3. What We Never Do
- We never deploy retargeting cookies or advertising tracking beacons.
- We never sell, rent, or share traffic browsing patterns with commercial data brokers.
- We never implement cross-site digital fingerprinting scripts.
4. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
You may inspect, disable, or delete cookies at any time via your browser preferences. Note that blocking necessary security cookies may disrupt checkout security protocols:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Block all cookies.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
